Meet Sue, JJ and Jordan, members of the Four Rivers Area Family YMCA in Washington, MO. Sue came to the Y looking for positive adult role models for her two grandsons and she found support beyond her imagination!
Jordan and JJ were enrolled in a mentoring program and started meeting with their mentors every other week. They play games, shoot baskets, go for walks, swim and sometimes just hang out. Sue says they are more confident, polite, and are doing better in school. In the short months that they have been together, there is no doubt that their mentors, Chris and Jay, are making a positive impact on the boys.
"I am a single grandmother raising kids. My kids have been matched with local professionals to spend one on one time and it has been great. My grandson said they couldn't have picked a better match for him. My kids have participated in programs I never thought they would attempt. They did the mud run… and went to camp at the Y for a week… had a blast.
I am a cancer survivor and recently completed the LIVESTRONG program… another free program offered at the Y. What's special about our Y? Everything!!!"
